Legal support is important for all of us. We need to be aware of the ever-changing legal environment that we practice in. And it is easy to spend a considerable amount of time and money in attorney consultations, which is another discouraging factor for solo practitioners.
While we cannot offer official legal guidance at FHP, we can leverage our community for advice, recommendations, and referrals. We expect that we can save each other a lot of time and money in this area through collaboration.
Another benefit that our members will enjoy is access to our forms templates that we have created with functional health professionals in mind. HIPAA forms, consent to treat, state attestation for telemedicine, privacy policies, Medicare private contracts, and records release are just a few of the forms that our members will be able to customize to their own practices.
Certain states require Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants to have a collaborative or supervising agreement with a physician. Although it can be difficult for NP/PAs to find such a physician, it is much easier within our network of professionals.
Be aware that FHP does not regulate or control the collaborative agreements that our members create amongst themselves. NPs who are interested in a collaborative physician are free to pursue this with whomever they choose, or they can speak to the FHP leadership for recommendations. Additionally, FHP can provide a template and examples of such agreements which can then be modified to both parties' satisfaction.
We are pleased to offer our members a discount with Scott Rattigan J.D., the Functional Lawyer. He has an excellent offering that many of our clinicians have found invaluable.
Additionally, we have a relationship with a highly experienced licensing specialist who offers our members a very reasonable rate for her services. She supports clinicians in acquiring new state licenses, maintaining current licenses (including CME oversight), navigating compact issues, as well as hospital credentialing. By working with her, clinicians save an enormous amount of time and frustration.
As our community grows, we also hope to expand the assistance that we provide our members. For example, we are exploring possible group rates for malpractice insurance, as well as state licensing management.
